As part of his official visit to USA, the External Affairs Minister (EAM) Shri Salman Khurshid visited Columbia University in New York and Harvard University in Boston on September 30 – October 1, 2013.

On September 30, 2013 Hon’ble EAM addressed a luncheon meeting at Columbia Law School in New York with select Professors and scholars from the Columbia University. Law School Dean David Schizer made welcoming remarks. EAM spoke on ‘State of Judiciary in India and legal problems before the country’ and answered queries by the participants.

On October 1, 2013 Hon’ble EAM visited the Harvard University. He had a Working Breakfast Meeting with select group of scholars/experts from Harvard, MIT, Tufts and Boston Universities. Ambassador Nicholas Burns of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government welcomed and introduced EAM. Hon’ble EAM made brief remarks on ‘India and its extended neighborhood’ followed by an informal interaction with the participants.

At the Public Address at Harvard Kennedy School of Government, which was attended by over 100 audiences, Hon’ble EAM spoke on ‘India-US Relations’. The address was followed by Q&A session.

During the visit, Hon’ble EAM also had the opportunity to tour the Harvard Yard, the historical centre of Harvard University, and visited the Boston Marathon Memorial at MIT. He also had interaction with Indian community leaders from the Greater Boston Region wherein various issues with regard to the welfare of the community were discussed.
