Book Launch 'Master on Masters' @ Consulate

     On Thursday, October 05 2017 Art&Culture@Consulate organized an interactive session moderated by Consul General Mr. Sandeep Chakravorty with Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and the audience on his newly released book 'Master on Masters'. The event was a huge success well attended by the media, writers and like minded people.

     ‘Master of Masters’ is a collection of short accounts by Sarod Maestro Shri Amjad Ali Khan’s relationship with twelve great musicians of his times. The author explains his and his father’s ties with great musicians like Kesarbai Kerkar, Bade Ghulam Ali, Amir Khan, Begum Akhtar, M.S. Shubhalaxmi, Bismillah Khan, Alla Rakha, Ravi Shankar, Bhimsen Joshi, Kishan Maharaj, Kumar Gandharva and Vilayat Khan. Through pictures, anecdotes and personal experiences the book provides interesting insights into lives of the stalwarts who contributed to the glory of the Indian classical musical tradition in India. 

     Ustad Amjad Ali Khan spoke about the individual musical styles of the twelve musicians featured in his book and expressed hope that the new generation understands the spiritual nature of this music and continues to keep the tradition alive.
