e-Visa(Electronic Visa) and Emergency Visas

Applicants for Indian Visa may kindly note the following:

1. e-Visa (Electronic Visa) is not an Emergency Visa

2. e-Visa involves direct online application by the applicant for which no facilitation is required by the Consulate. Neither the Consulate nor our outsourced partners M/s CKGS have any role in the issue of e-Visas. The Helpline number for the process for issue of e-Visas is 91-11-24300666. Please log into "indianvisaonline.gov.in" and choose option for e-Visa.

3. Emergency Visas are issued by the Consulate only for genuine emergencies relating to death and serious illness/hospitalization cases and granted during regular hours on working days and on Saturdays between 10 AM to 3.00 PM( after discussing with the Visa Officer). Emergency Services are available only for Tourist Visas ( 6 months validity) to US Nationals staying within the states covered by the Consulate General of India, New York namely the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts , New Hampshire, New Jersey , New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Rhode Island and Vermont. For Emergency Visas please contact the Consulate at 212 774 0640 during office hours and  917 476 2702 for after office hours and holidays

4. Emergency Visas can be applied directly to the Consulate. Application is to be generated online (please log on to "indianvisaonline.gov.in" and choose application for regular visa and not Electronic Visa and skip the payment portion).
