Promoting Indian Garments Through Fashion Show at CGI, New York

            As a part of New York Fashion Week, on February 13, 2014, the Consulate General of India, New York, in collaboration with the KAS, New York, organized an event to showcasing Indian dress designs for Fall/Winter 2014 blended with western styles.



Consul General, Amb. Dnyaneshwar M. Mulay, explained the role of India as an important fashion designing country. He also spoke about the strong garment industry and young talent availability in India, a pre-requisite for world fashion industry. Thereafter, Consul General inaugurated the event by inviting the KAS-designer Mr Kirat S Anand and his artists who presented the designer\'s outfits throughout the event in  varied Indian colours, fabrics, prints and western style of clothing.


The KAS was founded in 2007 by Mr Kirat S Anand, an Indian origin designer born and brought-up in USA. Mr Anand\'s vision is to fill a void in the affordable luxury and contemporary woman\'s ready-to-wear market in which he has succeeded through his nomination in the International Design Award for the  Fashion Designer of the Year Award in the Pret-a-Porter category.



The event was attended by approximately 100 people, mostly represented by members of fashion-design community. The officials of the Consulate, media representatives and Ms Manisha Koirala, well-known  Bollywood actor also felicitated the young group of models, appreciated their designs and clothing styles.
