Commemorating 127^th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar

The Consulate General of India, New York and the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations in collaboration with Columbia University, New York celebrated 127^th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar at Columbia Law School on April 11, 2018.

2. The event began with garlanding the statue of Dr. Ambedkar followed by a panel discussion on “ Policy and Technological Interventions for Social Inclusion” with the following experts – Dr. Menaka Guruswamy (Dr. BR Ambedkar research scholar & lecturer at Columbia Law School); Dr. Akansha Anand (Faculty Columbia University); Mr. Ashvini Tewari (Country Head – US Operations, State Bank of India, New York); Mr. Tanmaya Lal (Ambassador/ Deputy Permanent Representative of India to UN) and Mr. Sandeep Chakravorty (Consul General of India in New York). The discussion was followed by a interactive Q & A session.

3. The objective of the panel discussion was to highlight the philosophy and thoughts of Dr. Ambedkar on social justice and equality and its relevance in the implementation government policies of social inclusion.
