On the evening of May 3, 2014 the Consulate General of India, New York in association with ‘‘Ambedkar International Mission’’ celebrated “Dr Ambedkar Jayanti” in the Consulate ballroom.

Consul General Ambassador Dnyaneshwar M. Mulay speaking on the 123rd birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar, highlighted the contributions made by him during the drafting of the constitution of India and subsequently as the first Law Minister of India.

The celebration started with the garlanding the photograph of Dr Ambedkar by Consul General Mr Mulay and Dr Narendra Jadhav, Member of Planning Commission of India. Mr Jadhav who was the Chief Guest, spoke on topic "Dr Ambedkar: An Intellectual Colossus and A National Leader". In his lecture Mr Jadhav vividly described the roles played by Dr Ambedkar in the socio-economic reforms before and after the independence of India.

The event was attended by over hundred people from different regions of India based in the USA.

(Concluding remarks of Mr Raju Kamble)

The event concluded with remarks of Mr Raju Kamble who has written several books on Dr Ambedkar and has devoted his life to spreading of Ambedkar\'s message to the Americans. The event ended with the dinner.
