The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra visited the New York/New Jersey area on the 29th of June. The Consul General, Amb. Dnyaneshwar Mulay, welcomed the Chief Minister's delegation, which included the Industries Minister of the State of Maharashtra, Shri Subhash Desai, at Newark Airport. The delegation led by Hon'ble CM, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, met and discussed with the Governor of New Jersey, Mr. Chris Christie at New Jersey. In New York a luncheon was hosted by the US-India Business Council (USIBC) involving about 50 business leaders. The Chief Minister made a strong case for business relations between US and India and within India in Maharashtra. He elaborated on the state's projects open for foreign investment. In his one-on-one meetings with the CEOs of various industries and organizations, he focussed on sectoral opportunities. He dwelt on his successes in implementing reforms by reducing the delays in his home state and exhorted American businesses to come and invest in Maharashtra.

His visit concluded with an evening at the Taj Pierre's Ballroom where the Consulate General of India, New York, and Friends of Maharashtra hosted a community reception in honor of his visit on the theme "Mumbai Meets Manhattan". The Reception was attended by a large number of prominent members of the Indian Diaspora, including from the Maharashtrian community. The Arya Dance Academy, the Jai Bharat Dhol Tasha Pathak and comedian Raju Shrivastava also contributed to the lively evening. Both the Chief Minister and the Industries Minister addressed the gathering and spoke about the strides that have been made by the State vis-a-vis economic reforms and ease of doing business. The Chief Minister thanked the Indian community as well as American people based in the North-Eastern parts States in the USA for their warmth and hospitality.
