In the evening of March 12, 2014, the Consulate General of India, New York; GOPIO International and Community Reception Committee hosted a community reception at the Consulate’s ball-room for H.E. Dr.  S.  Jaishankar, India’s Ambassador to the USA, and Mrs. Kyoko Jaishankar. Large number of the members of Indian community from New York and the tri-state area attended the reception.

Consul General, Amb. Dnyaneshwar M. Mulay welcomed the guests and introduced Ambassador Dr. S. Jaishankar to the audience. The newly elected Assemblyman of New Jersey state assembly Mr Raj Mukherjee welcomed the Ambassador on behalf of the Indian-American community in general and the state representative in particular. The New Jersey assemblyman and Deputy Speaker Mr Upendra Chivkula also expressed happiness over Ambassador’ visit to the region. Mr Ashook Ramsaran, President of GOPIO International also spoke on the occassion and extended greetings to Ambassador and Mrs Kyoko Jaishankar.

Ambassador Jaishankar during his remarks thanked the Indian-American community for its invaluable contributions towards India-US relations. He underlined various achievements of various Indian American in numerous fields in the United States. He also appreciated the contribution of the Indian American community towards India’s social and economic development. Ambassador Jaishankar thanked the Consulate and the Indian community for hosting him. Ambassador Jaishankar was accompanied by Mrs  Kyoko Jaishankar.

The event was also attended by a number of media-people. The event ended with dinner.

संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका में भारत के राजदूत महामहिम डॉ. एस जयशंकर और श्रीमती क्योको जयशंकर का सामुदायिक स्वागत-समारोह 

12 मार्च 2014 की शाम में भारत के महाकांसुलावास, न्यूयॉर्क; 'गोपीओ इंटरनेशनल' और 'सामुदायिक स्वागत-समिति' ने संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका में भारत के राजदूत महामहिम डॉ. एस जयशंकर और श्रीमती क्योको जयशंकर के लिए सामुदायिक स्वागत-समारोह का आयोजन किया. न्यूयॉर्क और त्रि-राज्य क्षेत्र से भारतीय समुदाय के सदस्यों ने बड़ी संख्या में स्वागत-समारोह में भाग लिया.

कौंसल जनरल श्री ज्ञानेश्वर एम. मुले ने अतिथियों का स्वागत किया और दर्शकों से राजदूत डॉ. एस जयशंकर का परिचय कराया. न्यू जर्सी राज्य विधानसभा के नव निर्वाचित विधायक श्री राज मुखर्जी ने भी भारतीय मूल के अमेरिकी समुदाय और राज्य-प्रतिनिधियों की ओर से राजदूत का स्वागत किया.  न्यू जर्सी के विधायक और उपाध्यक्ष श्री उपेंद्र चिवकुला ने भी राजदूत के आगमन पर प्रसन्तता व्यक्त की. 'गोपीओ इंटरनेशनल' के अध्यक्ष श्री अशोक रामसरन ने भी राजदूत और श्रीमती क्योको जयशंकर को इस अवसर बधाई दी.

अपने सम्बोधन के दौरान राजदूत श्री जयशंकर ने भारत अमेरिका संबंधों के प्रति अपने अमूल्य योगदान के लिए भारतीय मूल के अमेरिकी समुदाय को धन्यवाद दिया. उन्होंने संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका में कई क्षेत्रों में विभिन्न भारतीय अमेरिकी लोगों के विभिन्न उपलब्धियों को रेखांकित किया. उन्होंने भारत की सामाजिक और आर्थिक विकास की दिशा में भारतीय अमेरिकी समुदाय के योगदान की सराहना की. राजदूत श्री जयशंकर ने मेजबानी के लिए महाकांसुलावास और भारतीय समुदाय को धन्यवाद दिया. राजदूत श्री जयशंकर के साथ उनकी धर्मपत्नी श्रीमती क्योको जयशंकर भी थीं.

मीडिया के के लोग भी काफी संख्या में उपस्थित थे. रात्रि भोज के साथ स्वागत-समारोह समाप्त हुआ.
