India Tourism in collaboration with Consulate General of India, New York organized a "Know India Seminar" on April 27, 2016 at New India House to project India as a tourist destination. The event was well attended by over one hundred people from the tourism fraternity as well as from the Media.

Consul General Ambassador Mrs. Riva Ganguly Das in her opening remarks welcomed the gathering and said that India with its rich cultural heritage is an attractive tourist destination. The Science of Yoga and Ayurveda had its origin in India. The Indian handloom industry and India's exotic Food and Spice bazaars also attract tourists from the world over. India is also one of the top destinations for Medical tourism. Ambassador Das also mentioned the introduction of E-visa, relaxation in Immigration rules which has made travelling to India stress free and more enjoyable.

Mr. Christopher Noey of Metropolitan Museum of Art presented a short speech fondly recalling his travels to India and the impact it has had on him. This was followed by Mrs. MinakshiVashisht, Assistant Director, India Tourism New York presenting a slideshow on key tourist destinations and attractions in India. During the presentation she highlighted the salient features of the Tourism industry in India and thanked everyone for attending the event. The evening ended with dinner.
