Consulate General of India hosted 'Gujarat Sthapna Divas on May 02, 2016 at the Consulate sponsored by Non-resident Gujarati Community of North America. The program was well attended by a large number of Gujarati community along with media and other prominent members of the Indian American community.

Consul General, Ambassador Riva Ganguly Das inaugurated the event by lighting lamp followed by a brief screening ofwebcast message of Hon'ble Chief Minister of Gujarat. In her welcoming remarks, Ambassador Das thanked all the guests and highlighted the rich heritage of the state be it in arts, customs, beliefs, institutions, traditions, languages and values. She then honored New York Police Department's officers for their excellent service and support. This was followed by dance performance and speeches by community leaders.

The event concluded with cake cutting ceremony and authentic Gujarati dinner.
