Visit of Government of Assam Delegation to New York

October 31 - November 1, 2017

A delegation from Assam, led by Mr. Chandra Mohan Patowary, Minister of Industries & Commerce and Mr. Keshab Mahanta, Minister of Information Technology, visited New York from October 31 to November 01, 2017 to promote the Assam Global Investors Summit 2018 – Advantage Assam to be held on February 3-4, 2018 in Assam.

During their visit, the delegation met with industry leaders and held one-on-one meetings with potential investors in various sectors like agriculture, healthcare, hospitality, tourism, biotechnology, education, renewable energy, transport and infrastructure development. They also explored the possibility of sister cities and twining programmes.

A road show was organized by the Consulate at its premises in association with Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) on November 1, 2017, where the delegation explained the initiatives being taken by Government of Assam and invited potential investors to invest in Assam and to participate in the Assam Global Investors Summit 2018.

The delegation also interacted with members of the local Indian community, especially from Assam at a gathering held at the Consulate on 1st November in association with Assamese community organizations like Assam Association of North America (AANA), Assam Foundation of North America (AFNA), North-East Indian American Cultural Organization (NEIACO) and Naamghar Association of America (NAAM). Cultural performances were held at this event which was well attended.
