Subject: No Walk-in Service at CGI, New York

            There will be no direct public dealing at the Consulate General of India, New York with immediate effect in light of the continued surge in Covid-19 cases. All applications/documents will be received and dispatched by postal method only. No facility for walk-in is available except for death related emergencies and Life Certificate applicants.

(i) Passport:  Please apply through the official service provider VFS Global at https://services.vfsglobal.com/usa/en/ind/

(ii) OCI: Please apply through the official service provider VFS Globa at https://visa.vfsglobal.com/ usa/en/ind/

(iii) Visa: Emergency visa will be issued directly by the Consulate General of India, New York to the eligible categories allowed to travel to India as per the advisories issued by the Government of India.  Applicants for emergency visa may write an email to us through PRAMIT dashboard available on our website www.indiainnewyork.gov.in    explaining the exigency. The Consulate thereafter will inform you of the next steps.

(iii) Attestation Services: Miscellaneous Consular services such as Power of Attorney, Birth Certificate, PCC etc. shall continue to be accepted by postal mail. These can be applied through the following link       https://www.indiainnewyork.gov.in/Miscellaneous_general_info_new

3. All Visa and Attestation services will be processed only on receipt of all supporting documents and fee at the Consulate. Applicants should factor in that it may take longer and there could be delays in providing above services due to the current Covid pandemic situation.
