"Awaken The Leader In You" - Book Talk

To mark the International Day of Yoga 2018, Consulate General of India, New York is hosting Curtain Raiser events that touch on the importance of Yoga and meditation in everyday life.

2. The second event in the series was a lecture "Awaken the Leader in You" by Mrs. Jaya Row on Tuesday, May 01, 2018. It was organized in collaboration with Vedanta Society of New York, Ramakrishna Order and Vedanta Vision.

3. Sandeep Chakravorty, Consul General welcomed the guests and introduced the speaker Mrs. Jaya Row, Vedanta Vision & Moderator, Swami Sarvapriyananda, Vedanta Society of New York. Vedanta Vision is dedicated to the promotion of Vedanta - the science of self management.

4. Speaking on the topic, Mrs Jaya Row exemplified how Vedanta provides an insight into the human mind and can help an ordinary person transform into an extraordinary leader: a leader who inspired people with a higher goal and a common purpose. Those with an understanding of Vedanta are able to build effective teams, identify latent talent and help individuals become star performers. She identified the traits of great leaders and showed ways to develop them. She said that it is only when leaders are inspired with a higher ideal that they can inspire team to perform.

5. The talk was moderated by Swami Sarvapriyananda, Minister and Spiritual Leader of the Vedanta Society of New York. Vedanta Society of New York bases its teachings on the System of Vedanta , especially as explained by Sri Ramakrishna (1836-1886) and his chief disciple Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902) and as demonstrated in their lives.

6. The lecture was followed by an informative Q & A session.
