On 8th May 2014 at the Consulate General of India, New York, "After Midnight: Indian Modernism to Contemporary India 1947/1997" scheduled from 25th January to 3rd May 2015 at Queens Museum, New York was announced.

Consul General Ambassador Dnyaneshwar M. Mulay in his welcome remarks applauded the initiative taken by Queens Museum and well established entrepreneur and community representative Ms Malini Shah and her team. He introduced Mr Tom Finkelpearl, former President of Queens Museum who is behind the concept of the forthcoming Indian exhibition.

Mr Tom Finkelpearl, recently appointed as Commissioner of Cultural Affairs  by New York Mayor Mr Bill de Balsio, after his introduction and welcome by Consul General Ambassador Dnyaneshwar M. Mulay thanked the audience for inviting him and added that in his first speech after taking over as Commissioner of Cultural Affairs shown his will to support the event.

This occasion was made gracious by attendance of art-lovers which included Mr Rajiv Chaudhri, Founder, President, Chief Investment Officer, and Managing Partner at Digital Century Capital, LLC who has collection of art-works of some important artists. He offered some of his collections to be part of the event in Queens Museum. He pledged his full support to the event. He talked about the need in India about the promotion and preservation of arts and encouraged art-lovers to keep themselves involved with the arts of their age.

Ms Arshiya Lokhandwala, Curator of the Museum was introduced by Ms Hitomi Iwasaki who herself is Director of Exhibitions in Queens Museum. Ms Lokhandwala enlightened the guests through her presentation and speech on history and development of Indian paintings during the last century and recent times.

The launch ceremony was attended by many Americans too which included Mr Peter M Meyer, President, NYC Market, TD Bank; Ms Denise Arbsu, Senior Vice President, CITIbank: Ms Pauline Willis, Director, American Federation of Arts.
