Welcome reception for Consul General Ambassador (Mrs) Riva Ganguly Das

Deputy Consul General of India, New York, Dr. Manoj K. Mohapatra hosted reception with the community to welcome the new Consul General, Ambassador (Mrs) Riva Ganguly Das on Saturday March 12, 2016 at the Consulate's ballroom. Prior to joining the post of Consul General of India in New York, Amb. Das served as Ambassador of India to Romania, Albania & Moldova with residence in Bucharest. A large number of guests consisting of prominent dignitaries like Amb. Syed Akbaruddin, Special Advisor to the U.N. Mr. Vijay Nambiar, TV Asia CEO Mr. H. R. Shah attended the reception besides a large number of community leaders.

Deputy Consul General Dr Mohapatra introduced and welcomed the Consul General, followed by remarks from Ambassador Syed Akbaruddin and Vijay Nambiar. Messages of welcome and full community support were given by prominent Indian organization leaders. Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Das expressed her intention to fulfill the high expectation people have of her position with the support of the local community and assured her best effort.

The evening concluded with dinner and interaction with the Consul General.
